I am an endowed assistant professor of the Information Science and Culture (ISC) Studies housed in the Department of Communication at Seoul National University (SNU). Also, I am a co-director of the HCI+d lab with Prof. Joonhwan Lee.
I received a B.A . in Communication and ISC and an M.Eng from SNU. Following that, I received an M.S. and Ph.D. in Information Science from Cornell University. Prior to joining SNU, I worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in the People and Robot Lab. in the Department of Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
My research interests lie in human-computer interaction, human-AI interaction, accessibility and multilingual communication. My main research focus is to design and build novel communication support tools that can foster inclusive and understanding communication environments. My design approach involves incorporating AI into diverse communication/collaboration contexts to leverage people’s communication competence and understanding of others/themselves.
